About Emmanuel Cervantes Mejia

As the title to his first published poetry collection suggests (Should i kill myself or Have a Cup of Coffee?, Lulu Press, 2014), Emmanuel Cervantes-Mejia is unafraid to ink provocative thoughts considered taboo by some. Just as all of humanity shares one very definitive destination, the individual journeys could not be any more different. In love and happiness to the more mundane duties of life, with every breath we inch closer to our grand finale. It’s as if in coming to terms with one’s mortality, Cervantes-Mejia is telling his readers to reconsider our existence and to align it with a meaningful purpose. Besides writing, a passion from his earliest years, Cervantes-Mejia is an avid musician. He’s performed at various local venues including the renowned 23 Club of Brisbane and JJ’s Blues of San José, California. To Cervantes-Mejia, boxing is poetic and when not enjoying a title fight, he likes to lose himself by reading Edgar Allan Poe, Albert Camus, and Jack Kerouac among others.
