I've been reading, enjoying and replying to Eric Frost-Barnes blog ever since the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. When I found out it was being made into a book, I was hopeful that it would contain the same snarky spirit. I'm pleased to say that my expectations have been exceeded. Not only does Frost-Barnes include some literate additions that longtime readers like me may have missed, but the illustrations by Don Crandall are the perfect accompaniment to the corresponding rant. Thanks to both of them for not pissing this reader off! P.S. For those of you considering correcting me regarding the identity of the country that bombed Pearl Harbor, I'll have you know I have no less of an authority than Senator John Blutarsky as a source to back me up on my claim. So there!

Funny, scathing indictment of what makes us cranky, and what actually should make our heads explode. Fairly even in who gets called out for their stupidity and made me think about certain people and subjects in a new way. Some of the comments deserve their own letters of scolding, but the drawings had me laughing out loud and showing my coworkers. Overall, a great treat!

What I particularly like about this book is that while it is (and is intended to be) a light, humorous read, it also has value as an encapsulation of our times. The recipients of the range of correspondence contained in these pages have all been part of the national dialog for one reason or another in the last two or three years. That they vary as widely as Dick Cheney and the Easter treat "peeps" only underscores the diversity of what has been included in our collective conversation recently. Even the reader responses add to the effect. Some are thoughtful and articulate, while others are... less so. But they all reflect the instant feedback society we've entered into (and are unlikely to leave anytime soon.) While most will simply appreciate this book for it's ability to make them laugh out loud - the author's primary goal, no doubt - it is worth noting it's worthiness as a clever container of this moment in history. Enjoy.

A rip-roaring dissection of everything that makes us mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore. Frost-Barnes is witty and insightful. His writing speaks to anyone who has ever been stuck in line at the post office or on hold for an hour waiting for on-line computer tech service. Carry the book wherever you go, it's far less expensive than psychotherapy.

I've followed the site of the same name for a couple years and it almost always makes me laugh. LUV the fact that Eric Frost Barnes turned this into a book and added brand new letters! Funny, engaging stuff, regardless of your background or beliefs.
