On the borough of Manhattan, there are 1.5 million residents. Among this number is a small family of four that lives in the upper Westside on 78th street, between sixth and Fifth Avenue. The Yaniteli family migrated to Manhattan Island from Jersey City with hopes of beginning a new life away from their painful past. This tiny family consists of a dad, Antoine; a three year-old, Lawrence; a 14-year-old, Abeana; and an aunt, Lillian. The mom of this quaint family, Amy, passed away 2 years ago. She died from the injuries she sustained in a car accident. Their quest for a new life has just begun and they face many obstacles in the great city of New York. It all starts with Abeana and her struggle to deal with the loss of her mother, try to keep her family close, and to survive the pressures of the New York City school system.
