Corporate Governance in Central and Eastern Europe

ByFarrukh Khan

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The collapse of the former USSR resulted in the beginning of post – communist transformations in countries of Central and Eastern Europe. However, countries in the so called transition economies of Europe have opted to take different paths to capitalism. Privatisation of state owned enterprise, market reforms, institution building and the establishment of a legal, institutional and regulatory framework for corporate governance were challenges that had to be faced after socialism. This dissertation presents a discussion about corporate governance in Central and Eastern Europe with an emphasis on the impact of institutions on governance issues and the progress that has been made in various countries of the region.
