“:Medicinal and Insecticidal Activities of Hill Toon, Cedrela serrata”

eBook (PDF), 110 Pages
Price: $50.00
The present research was conducted to evaluate the toxicity, residual effects and repellency of leaves extract of hill toon, Cedrela serrata Royle against red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst). Further, antioxidant, DNA protection, phytochemical and spectrophotometric analysis of the C. serrata was performed. Tribolium castaneum were reared under laboratory conditions with control temperature (30±2 °C) and relative humidity (RH: 60±10%). The toxicity result reveals that LD50 of methanolic extract (ME), n-butanol fraction (NBF), ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) and aqueous fraction (AQF) was 143.01, 17.90, 69.80 and 383.98 µl/cm2, respectively. The results concluded that the C. serrata extracts showed significant toxicity, residual effects and repellency against T. castaneum and significant antioxidant, phytochemical and spectrophotometric properties. It is suggested that further work on C. serrata should be done to find out its active biological component.
