Sticking to my Footsteps is a collection of new writings – poetry, fiction and life writing – from members of the Femrite Women Writers Association in Kampala, Uganda. The work was brought forward to a series of editorial workshops led by Graham Mort from Lancaster University (UK) in April 2012, where it became the focus for collective debate and development. Following the workshops, an editorial panel was set up from within Femrite to bring the work to finished form. This anthology forms the first publication developed as a collaboration between Femrite and the Centre for Transcultural writing and Research at Lancaster University. It brings forward a range of new and established voices and indicates something of the thematic range, concerns, creative energy and vision developing in Ugandan writing in the early twenty-first century.
