Patchwork is best described as a fairytale for adults, in which you can return to the land of hope and possibility through following the story of Anna and Sophie, as they leave their lives in London behind them to follow their dreams on the Greek island of Napinthos. Beautifully portrayed and magically written, Patchwork follows the protagonists as they set up in their Patchwork house and take up sewing and writing, revelling in the ideal of the peaceful and tranquil life. But, as so often happens when dreams collide with reality, nothing runs quite as smoothly as planned. As life becomes complicated once more we are left wondering whether we can ever truly live out our dreams, or if life will always retain its nasty little habit of getting in the way... A heartfelt portrayal of these two women's tussles to get what they truly want, 'Patchwork' will keep you turning the pages and hoping for more. A great read for debut novelist McCready; I look forward to reading her next!
