This book is not comforting; it does not reassure. It does not teach anything a decent person needs to know. It is a book about BDSM, but it will teach you nothing about tying knots, swinging floggers or spanking. It does not attempt to reach the vanilla public.
This book addresses control, it addresses change. The book strips away the fantasy elements of BDSM so popular recently and get down to the brass tacks. Power exchange is just that and the psychological aspects that create it are the most important part of it. Flagg masterfully dissects these elements and in a straight forward manner gets straight to the heart of the matter.
This is the sort of book the community is in desperate need of. No romanticizing, no sugar-coating-- things are said plain and raw, following the very concept it preaches: Minimum amount of words, Maximum amount of information. My first assumption was that if this book was anything like his lectures, I’d be drowning the slim volume in highlighter ink. Suffice to say, it was hard not to highlight all of it; it’s just filled with vital information. The text itself demands it be taken seriously. The first chapter on Protocol,Contract, and Rituals is a 'must-read' for anyone interested in TPE, and The last chapter on Afterward, leaves one in total awe. A delight from start to finish.
"An amazing journey..." written well and with candor. Flagg writes with a voice that you can hear - loudly or in whispers - conversationally or conspiratorially. He captures decades of learning and growing in his pages and does not spare himself in sharing them with the reader. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in power dynamics, mind games or the more psychological aspects of the lifestyle. Enjoy!
"Phenomenal!!!" What a wonderful book! It is insightful and real; none of the, "standard-party-line" we run into all the time. Additionally, it isn't one of those teaser books. You can absolutely dive in and use the information provided. If you really want to get into someone's head and have some fun, this book is a must.
