The Adventurous Melody West Series Book 5: It is springtime and Melody West leaves her hometown and goes on adventurous journey with her friend Nobuko to Japan. Right from the get-go, unlikely things happen. A bicycle nearly crashes into Melody, and a boy in an Irish cap and scarf saves her but quickly disappears into the crowd. Then Melody and Nobuko follow a wily cat through a cemetery and end up meeting his owner, the talented and hospitable kabuki actor Goro Nakamura. Mr. Nakamura invites them to his moon-viewing party and then takes them to what may be a haunted theater, where a two-hundred-year-old woodblock print comes to life. Central to the novel are the blossoms on the cherry trees. When Melody first arrives in Tokyo, she sees the cherry trees in full bloom. Quickly in full bloom is also Melody’s crush on Jake, an American boy living in Japan. But soon the petals begin to fall, and Melody must learn how to cope with feelings of jealousy and her own unexpected behavior.
