In June 1945, 21-year-old New Zealander, Frank Wigzell, parachuted into the Borneo jungle behind enemy lines on a top secret mission with Z-Special Unit in advance of the Allied push to liberate the island from the occupying Japanese. He lived with a tribe of headhunters, trained them in guerrilla warfare and set up radio links to the advancing Australian forces. His incredible exploits and those of other 'Z' commandos were kept secret until 30 years after the war. This book also recounts his determined struggle to obtain official recognition of the unit from both the Australia and New Zealand military establishments who denied its very existence.

This is an amazing story of survival and the courage of a young soldier left to fend for himself in the hostile interior of Borneo during World War II.
