Meshing reality with fiction, Hail Mary Heaven Sent is a novel set in the Cold War era. It was a time when nuclear powers, the USSR and the West, were attempting to demonstrate the "superiority" of their system, culture and society. Along with the space race and scientific achievements, international sport - the Olympics, soccer in the U.K., basketball in the U.S.A., hockey in Canada- on the surface friendly, benign competitions, took on new importance in this "war without weapons" for the minds and souls of citizens in both camps. When a Soviet parallel "diabolical" plot is uncovered, the result is the "inevitability of communism" in a head-on collision with the "Message of Fatima." The result: the fall of the Soviet Union. Coincidence or Divine intervention?

"hail mary heaven sent" Former CFL quarterback Frank Cosentino is a household name to any football fan, but the retired York University physical education and athletics department head is also known in literary circles in the Ottawa Valley. Cosentino, who has authored and co-authored 12 other books, has published this Cold War thriller- a mix of mystery and faith- which poses the question: Do historical events unfold as a result of human or divine intervention and how much of anything can be attributed to coincidence or the supernatural? Mike Gillespie, Ottawa Citizen Noveber 26, 2007.

"Hail Mary Heaven Sent" I am almost totally uninterested in sports, but a history buff and I found this book very interesting in many ways.I was able to recall a lot of the events that happened, and all the coincidences were amazing. The weaving of fictional characters with historical facts made it a compelling read. Bravo Mr Cosentino Rose Marie Mahar

"Hail Mary" The research done and the mixing of fact and fiction kept my interest throughout the entire book. A reader learns many sport happenings that went under the radar in most newspapers and is reminded of interesting things that happened in the world of sports that many of us have forgotten. I found that even in sports each country has their own viewpoints on event that as an American I did not realize meant so much to the fans of European sports fanatics. I recommend this book not only as a good read but also of a good education on international sports.
