This booklet is about a treasure-trove of Balinese culture: engraving processed leaves of the lontar palm with texts and drawings. For centuries this art has been performed in the countries of South East Asia. In Singaraja on Bali is perhaps the largest library of lontar books of the region, with thousands of carefully stored copies of ancient heritage.
Not only the Hindu Ramayana epic and other religious texts can be found on lontar, but profane messages, contracts and erotic pictures are also on display. With 26 pictures.
