“It never crossed my mind, I didn’t realise...not until she was placed in my arms...I couldn’t believe was unbearable”. For Winifred Stark, a decision made long ago will return to haunt her, threatening to destroy everything she holds dear. She will be forced to fight for her family, her principles, and her sanity. Winifred must search her heart and her conscience, and against all the odds, learn to do the one thing she thought herself incapable of: love her daughter. This is a story of love, loss and loathing that will warm your soul and force you to confront your own views of humanity. There can be no easy answers.

"A Woman's Secret by Fred Brown" A superb book, beautifully written. Colourful characters and a plot that is in equal measures gripping, pertinent, controversial and moving. A great read by a talented author.

"Re: A Woman's Secret by Fred Brown" I am grateful for this book, written so masterly and sympathetically - not just a novel but also a book that deserves wide publicity. I am of opinion it would be of benefit to society if some philanthropist could arrange for copies to be read and passed from home to home in all communities of this country in an endeavour to create more understanding, joyous and happy neighbourhoods JSB Dorset

"A woman's secret by Fred Brown" I finished the book in three sessions not wanting to put it aside. I'm sure the story has the makings of a movie with its various twists and 'real life' conundrums to keep people's attention and emotions alert. It makes you recognise how our hidden, albeit well intentioned, decisions can impact on not just our lives but can shape the lives of others as well.

"A Woman's Secret by Fred Brown" A good book lives with you long after the last page has been turned. So it is with A Woman's Secret. Dealing with the complexities of caring and accepting responsibility for the lives of others, it does so with grace and respect. Winnie, the main character here, was a stalwart member of her community, but lived with the dreadful knowledge that her life was built on a fabric of lies, created not just for herself, but to protect the life she had created for her family. In a completely non-judgmental yet sympathetic way, this emotive subject is viewed from many standpoints and left the reader able to associate with some characters, defensive of others and haunted by the dilemma. Definitely food for thought and a book that will remain in my mind for a long time to come.
