"Prostate Cancer Meets the Proton Beam " When a man is diagnosed with prostate cancer, his world is shaken. He and his family don't have any experience on which to base treatment decisions. They are overwhelmed with emotions and tend to rely on the urologist to dictate the treatment. This very readable book describes Mr. Jones' research and decision-making after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He describes and explains every step of his journey which eventually led to proton beam therapy at Loma Linda Medical Center. This treatment is not widely known even by physicians, has similar success rates to all the better-known treatments for prostate cancer, but has far fewer side effects. I highly recommend this book for any man who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and for his family members or significant other.
