Red Dwarf, the cult BBC2 and Dave sci-fi sitcom, has entertained millions of fans worldwide since its first broadcast in 1988. Ganymede & Titan, a Red Dwarf fan website, has entertained literally several of those fans since its launch in 1999. I've floated around fandom since 1992 and we really could have done with these guys in 1997-2000 when we were forced to swallow all sorts of tripe from GNP and BTL. I (was living and woirking in Los Angeles) stumbled across their website during the Back To Earth excitement and I've enjoyed their no nonsense, sweary but always entertaining ways ever since. This is a great book for the discerning Dwarfer.
An excellent fan-level view of a sitcom I've found myself a lapsed enthusiast of this past decade (particularly thanks to the appalling final series or "Back To Earth" special). The range of pieces here are both thoughtful whilst not slavishly adoring of its subject. Its also massively childish in places with bags of naughty language (and at least one sentence I hope Chloë Annett's grandmother never ever reads) but the enthusiasm for the series and its extensive world always backs it up. Indeed, the greatest compliment I can offer is that it makes you want to toddle off and re-watch the whole lot on DVD all over again. Except maybe the final series and Back To Earth. Natch.
