The Scarlet Sea

ByGary Fears

July, 1774 and England is headed to war with her American Colonies. In a last minute effort to avoid the all but inevitable bloodshed, the King dispatches Captain John Meehan and his frigate, HMS Talon, to escort a peace mission to New York for a secret rendezvous with the Sons of Liberty. Captain Steven Riddley, under orders from dissenters in Paliament, is intent on stopping Meehan and his consorts before they have the opportunity to "give away" the lucrative Colonies. When his commander, Admiral Sir Clifton Hale, is murdered, Meehan vows revenge on Riddley and promises that his vengeance will be satisfied. Meehan's and Riddley's duel spans the great ocean, culminating in a bloody conflagration that will ultimately decide if there is to be peace or bloody revolution.
