DUTY CALLS, Bossier City Firefighters' Historic Hurricane Katrina Search & Rescue and EMS Mission
They pulled people from their roofs and attics, waded in chest-high polluted waters, and brought the rescued to safety: "It was a humbling experience.” The Bossier City Fire Department is credited with rescuing over 750 people in a four day period during the catastrophic flood of the City of New Orleans. The BCFD EMS staff treated the rescued and transported over 400 patients in their ambulance during the United States’ largest natural disaster – Hurricane Katrina.
