"Re: In June the River" A magnificent true story by a tremendous, talented new writer. Having had many parrellel experiences as Geoff...and having left my empty glass on the same bar as he, I whole-heartedly proclaim this novel to be what it is...a victory of spirit...of the heart, by a very talented individual. His uncanny wit has a way of touching while at the same time entertaining in a way that is truly creatively refreshing. I could not put the book down, and I look forward to his next.

"So Beautiful "In June The River"" I discovered "In June The River" on Lulu when Mr. Coates first listed it, before this final publication. I bought it, read it and then bought copies for my book group. This is an outstanding debut, filled with intelligence, humor, love, pain and healing. The writing is beautiful. My book group highly approved my choice. None of us could put this book down until we had absorbed all of Mr. Coates's odyssey. I have been with my book group of nine women for many years and we all agreed that we had the best discussion we had ever had when we met for "In June The River." This is just a plain great read for anyone. But, I would recommend this book to relatives and friends of persons with addictions, especially alcohol and drug addictions. It cannot help but give people a bit more understanding of their loved one. Hats off to you Mr. Coates.

"In June the River" For anyone who has ever been touched by addiction (and who hasn't), In June the River, is a must read. Filled with the reasons "why", the sadness of lost opportunities, and the black humor of drunken moments, the reader is captured by this life of addiction. The ending assures the reader that recovery is within reach. In June the River is a great tool for those who strive for the seemingly elusive state of recovery. As a provider of addiction services, I highly recommend this book for addiction professionals as well as those who seek an answer. In June the River takes you from despair, to hope, to enlightenment.
