The first ever all-white chocolate truffle in Europe was made for a migraine sufferer and sugar-free truffles for diabetic customers. Packed with stories "Adventures in Chocolate" tells you how you too can fulfill a latent wish of having your own chocolate shop. All it takes is commitment, hard work, quality ingredients, and enthusiasm. The satisfaction is intense. You meet fascinating people all of whom have a ready smile.
This is the book to read if you like to cook, or you have a sweet tooth, or you love to give gifts you've made or you are interested in how a small business evolves. This readable, charming book offers a view of how a small chocolate truffle shop was founded in London and also provides wonderful truffle recipes for both British and American candy makers. Thank you Joan and Geoffrey for the many gifts found in this delightful book.
As one who has personally tasted the chocolate delights of Geoffroi, I can attest to the scrumptious quality of these candies. As one who has read the Adventures in Chocolate, I can recommend the book to many chocolate lovers: those who are chocoholics; those who may be venturing into a cottage industry in these times of economic uncertainty, and those who appreciate anecdotes of incidents and personalities that contribute to the joy and success of producing a fine delicacy. Better yet, I would recommend purchasing several copies; then try some of the delicious recipes, and give samples of your best successes, along with a copy of Geoffrey and Joan's book, as gifts to your best friends. Sooner or later one of them may open such a boutique in your neighborhood!
This is a most delectable read. A bonus, is reading the fun and interesting stories of how 'Geoffroi' came into being and the many British "well knowns" who became fans of this lovely little chocolate shop. I can attest to the deliciousness of these truffles having tasted almost all of those noted in this book. Dee O'Hara - San Jose, California
What a delightful book - I loved the way the easy to follow recipes are interspersed with amusing and interesting real life stories. They tried to always give their customers what they wanted including on one occasion, placing two very expensive earrings inside two truffles in a box of identical Couintreau truffles. Great present for chocolate lovers.
