"Destroying the Works of the Devil" is an engaging book that looks at spiritual warfare (and deliverance in particular) in a practical light through experience and stories of real encounters. It does an especially good job of recounting exactly what was happening in each session by recounting the dialog between the parties involved. Freeman knows how to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide spiritual warfare and to facilitate healing, deliverance, and freedom in Christ. The book could almost be used as a step by step guide for practical training in spiritual warfare and deliverance. It's a good read and the final chapter, "The Interview," with a woman who had been brought up in Satanism from childhood until she was saved while trying to infiltrate a Christian college, is an eye-opening revelation even to those who have had experience in spiritual warfare.

This is an amazing book that is built on personal testamonies and stories to allow the reader into the deeper insights and intimacies of the spiritual realm. It is easy to read and understand, yet still highlighting the importance of our authority in Christ and to always be on guard. There are also prayer guides provided to assist in handling certain situations, and it is a book that personally provided so much light and freedom to my life.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12). This and passages like it are far too often omitted from the preaching rotations of most churches, to our detriment. Our ministries struggle, church membership plateaus or declines, our communities languish in drug and alcohol abuse and all the money and programs we throw at the problems only get us so far. We tend to leave out the spiritual component, sanitizing our issues into "flesh and blood only" problems. In this book, Destroying the Works of the Devil, George Freeman gives us a dramatic reminder from his own encounters with the demonic that spiritual battles for the hearts and minds of people are very real. And even more, he demonstrates that we, as followers of Jesus Christ have the authority... More > in Jesus' name, to defeat the devil's schemes and bring true healing and freedom to the oppressed. This is not a book written to inspire fear or to have us look for demons under every rock, but within every story the author brings a loving, careful and scriptural approach to dealing with demonized people. The reader is inspired to live a life of worship before the Lord, open to the leading of his Holy Spirit and authoritatively dealing with the enemy in scripturally appropriate ways. Most enlightening to me as a pastor was Freeman's interview with an ex-satanist who describes in some detail the plans the enemy has for destroying ministries, churches, pastors and their families who are actively advancing Christ's kingdom. As much as that might breed fear into our hearts, we are even more encouraged by the insights given into the angelic protection the Lord provides along with the divine authority we all have as believers of the risen Christ to overcome whatever the devil seeks to accomplish. Yes, the book has it's share of typos, but they are easily overlooked because of the content. In reading these stories in Destroying the Works of the Devil you will be amazed, encouraged and equipped with tools that will aid any Christian ministry and I can't recommend it highly enough. Rev.
