A rollicking tale of the life of Neal Drummond and his family. Commencing in New Zealand and finishing there with a significant side trip to Australia. George has taken an ordinary young man and has him involved with a number of local and significant central characters. This is well done and his techniques for introducing them is to be commended. They all come alive and are real to the reader. The story commences in Tauranga and soon moves to Taupo where many of the characters emerge It involves a meeting with senior politicians, local identities, ancient Maori burials, interesting details of mechanical interest and some great bulldozer driving. George has developed a great character in Drummond, and as well has some very interesting political points to make about a possible change of life in the future. A great book with an interesting and captivating yarn of daring do and some thought provoking philosophical points as well. A truly wonderful book which I heartily recommend to any... More > reader. George Furze has produced a novel that clearly portrays an element of truth. Indeed, a person could believe the entire story as being factual rather than fiction. His story flows easily across time, topics and events. He has managed to portray his characters as real human beings, doing real things in real circumstances, but with a continual sense of what might come next, I read on with interest anticipating how the story would play out. I was not disappointed and eagerly await Part Two.
