Ta-da I am pleased to announce that I now have finished reading every single one of the 611 pages in your book published in 2008! Writing a book about one’s life is a challenge and a joy that many of us think about from time-to-time and would really like to do, but never seem to get around to doing. It’s probably not so terrible that we don’t – because most of us don’t have the talent, patience, skills, recollection recall and stick-to-it-ive-ness to really pull it off to the point where anyone (including close family – never mind friends and strangers) would choose to read it. So, George Jardine, I extend to you two hearty pats on the back for having pulled it off – you actually did do it! You have a talent for writing in a conversational style that makes for easy reading. Congratulations to you! I found it to be quite a remarkable accomplishment!

"Becoming Me" At birth we came to this garden of Canada alone and the voice of Hope melted into our newborn lives from the first beat. We were told there would "be bluebirds over the white cliffs and that Johny would come marching home again..." It happened. Standing on the pride and courage of our Canadian forebears, and standing occasionally in the poo of the farmyard we absorbed the blend of music and laughter and love. Then we danced and watched and grew and lived our life with joy and glee. We made it happen in our way because we were so taught. We are the children of the Great Depression and world war and we are quiet Canadians of humble but powerful roots. George Jardine is a talented spokesman for us and for all who know the joy of standing on the shoulders of our Canadian giants. He examines his roots with artful simplicity and gently reminds us where we have been. This book is a great Canadian secret revealed. Like the rest of us Canadians George is a... More > simple enigma who shares the secret of being Canadian: living life to the fullest. Be fooled by the honesty and courage reflected in this autobiography. I was gripped from the first to last page. This autobiography speaks to Canadian freedom. We are who we say and and we are what we do, and we value that. Jim Wilson, a Canadian residing in Kirkland Lake Ontario, and living in high expectation of reading the next work of Mr. Jardine.< Less
