Anecdotes from Norway´s Home Front. In the course of a single Spring night, Norway was transformed into a bloody battleground. And it is a battle which never can be won by tanks and bombers alone. One of the Norwegian people´s most dangerous weapons –one of the weapons which Nazis fear most- is the popular wit, the bounteous surplus of a hardy people. That is the weapon which hits the Nazis daily. Like the stinging lashes of a wip. They know, and the Norwegians know, that he who laughs – LASTS. Johan Grønlund Bull (born 22 November 1893 in Christiania, died on 12 September 1945 in Stowe, Vermont) was a versatile Norwegian artist who worked for many years in the US as a writer, journalist, illustrator, satirist and besides as designer. He became known for his satirical drawings of war during World War II when he was in exile in London. This book is on the first page hand signed by Johan Bull.
