Wow! I couldn't put this book down. It is an amazing story of courage and honor in the face of the most heinous of endeavors--slavery. It shows cleary how slavery injures the slave and corrupts the slave owner. The prose is vivid and exciting. I highly reoommend this novel!

Intriguing from Beginning to End!!! AMAZING, PROFOUND book! A must read for those that appreciate raw, honest, emotional/character-driven, full of imagery writing. Mr. Cooper truly honors an entire community of people from a perspective like none other I have read before/been exposed. BRAVO Mr. Cooper!

I enjoyed reading this book. Cooper keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end; with such an amazing storyline. This is definitely a page turner. The details in this book and the language used puts Cooper on a completely different level. This book isn't your typical read and is definitely worth your time. I read this book a few years ago, but I am looking forward to reading it again. I recommend this book to any and everyone. I've had family, friends, and co-workers reading. Not one bad review. Cooper, thank you for this story and I can't wait for the next story. Cheers!

I first read this book about 5 years ago, and simply loved it. It is rare that I re-read books but I did with Blood Burning Mood. The first time, I was so intrigued by the story that I wanted to rush and get to the end to see the fate of these characters I had become so attached, and knew I had missed some things. I decided to pick it up again a couple of years later and I am so glad that I did. Mr. Cooper has written a very compelling story with thoughtful and rich character development, along with vivid details and imagery. He does an excellent job at combining facts along with a brilliant imagination. I highly recommend this book to any readers who are interested in this subject matter, and know that you will feel satisfied and enlightened.

I was given a copy of this book as a gift and I am so glad to have been given a chance to take this journey. This was a slave story that was new and fresh. Gilbert held nothing back and the way he painted the picture at times made me want to turn away. This book spoke of the atrocities of slavery and how it affected not only the enslaved but the enslaver. It kept me so interested that I read this book in a weekend. I think there is more story to be told and I can't wait to read it.
