Who wants to be mundane? Not Gladys Wesley-Kennedy. Through her poems, "Long Seeking Through Deep Blackness" and "Do not Wrestle with Phenomena" I gained insight into meditation and the journey towards enlightenment. In "My Dharma Sister's Eyes" Gladys lets the reader in on life in a Buddhist monastery. The pictures in the book reflect the tone of the poems and provide visual clues as to the content. Not everyone takes time to reflect on their life, but I feel everyone who reads this poetry will find some affinity with one or more poems. I loved it!

I am 16 and my aunt recommended I read this book. Of course, as a teenager, I didnt think I would have much interest in it, but after reading the first poem "My Wish" I was hooked. The author goes so in depth with the details and every words captures your attention. The thoughts are so deep and personal it makes you want to continue reading on. The poems are things that everyday people experience. Everyone can relate to at least one of the poems in this book. Its not only for a mature audience but it also appeals to the younger generations. For people who love to read poems this is the perfect book. Even if you aren't a poem type person you will love it. I highly recommend you buy this book, you wont be disappointed.

This book of poetry embodies life and the essence of Zen. The author shares with us her exploration into our true Self in the poem "Who?" Her meditative insight and wisdom have flowered in the poem "Do not wrestle with phenomena," where she explains how to witness all phenomena and thoughts and allowing them to arise and dissolve in our spacious awareness. Every poem is like a beautiful song reminding us to look within, and come back to our Inner Resource in the midst of life with all its changes and uncertainty. I recommend this book as a reference for coming back to our inner peace and happiness.

This book brings you to the spiritual world through beautiful words. It gives me the positive energy that enlightens me. This book is like a light tower providing me with comfort and guidance through the dark. I feel like singing along every time I read the poems. Every poem is like a beautiful picture, a melodious song, and a spiritual spa. One of my favorite poems is "Lady Purple Flower". I found this poem very inspiring because I learned that everyone has come to this world with purpose. Be yourself and treasure every moment. Personally, I think that this book is a must have. It will open your mind and bring you inspiration more than you can imagine.

This book of poetry embodies life and its many magical moments. The author allows us a look into her inner self. You feel the warmth, humor and compassion of a woman on a mission of identity. She knows who she is and is now sharing those tender thoughts and dreams. "My Wish" reminds me of my many childhood strolls up the hill to the pasture, to bring the cows back home before nightfall in a calm, beautiful Northeast Texas country setting, for my Uncle Pearlie. It allowed me to breath the fresh air, think about who and what I wanted to be when I grew up. "Lady Purple Flower" brings me back to the first poem I ever wrote "A Rose is But a Rose." The taste and feel of the early morning dew on a rose petal captures the innocence of ones inner self. It cries out to me as a passionate love story would. "Be Gone" stirs emotions of a conversation with this author after the passing of my Mother. One day when I asked her why, she looked into my eyes and... More > said, so you could live! This book awakens the the wisdom, love, understanding and spiritual being inside of each of us as we move to another level of our life.< Less
