Three Sketches on Atonality for Piano

Composed in 1997 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Three Sketches are my first attempt at atonal composition. The pieces are short, exciting and dramatic. Each piece is stylistically unique. Even though the tonal scheme is western in conception, the triune work is infused with subtle African flavors and nuances as expressed in the melodic, rhythmic and harmonic constructs, contrapuntal interactions of the left and right hand, as well as deliberate avoidance of conventional cadential points.
