Apr 9, 2013The book is interesting for a woman like me from the Philippines. I was not interested at all by geopolitics or Russia at all, but after reading this statement at the highest strategic worldwide well then, I have definitely been interested. Russia is not a country that we Filipinos have so much contact with of course but I know the former Soviet Union and its communistic background. This was never popular here in the Cold War era. What strikes me is that there are no women in the book. There seems to be a man's world with geostrategy. The book is otherwise very well written and looks to be professionally translated. The cover looks really being created by a professional designer. What is striking here in this picture is the fact that "Jesus Christ the Saviors Cathedral in Moscow Russia" is the world's largest Christian Orthodox church. But that's not all. It was here inside on the altar a punk group “Pussy Riot” heckled Putin, known here in the Philippines and still write... More > about as soon as they can. Is the author really right when he is referring to the backside text arguing that Western / U.S. criticizes Russia with anything just it is negative against Putin precisely because Putin has broken U.S. world hegemony by creating a multipolar world order. The author writes about the BRICs and their plans, and this seems to be a really good analysis because I know that BRICS, when Putin was in South Africa recently, initiated at a counterbalance to the IMF in the form of BRICS own world bank. The author has outstanding strategic, analytical skills beyond the ordinary and writes also that even a uninitiated can understand the content. Is this what is "The incalculable Consequences of the Kosovo War" as chapter 6 reads. To me it seems quite clear that the U.S. is on the way to their own geographical half on the other side of the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean and more or less leave Eurasia.< Less
Apr 8, 2013Very interesting depiction of the real reason why Mr Putin came to power. The author describes succinctly the development of Russia's geopolitical location in the historical perspective as well as the geopolitical catastrophe for the Soviet Union. In Chapter 5-6 Vladimir Putin takes the command and then he creates the new, multipolar world order in rocket speed. Opening and cleverly and somewhat ironically describes how the West treated Russia in the 1990s. One can easily understand the West's economic crisis, when the author describes in detail very advanced echoes economic theories of the relationship between the U.S. / EU / and challenger BRICS. There is also some interesting descriptions of the author's own escapades in the former Soviet Union. High certainly interesting is the chapter on America's geostrategic position and how the United States used this historically but how Putin manages to figure out how to gain access to U.S. weaknesses using the creation of new alliances.... More > Geostrategy is there in abundance and thoroughly explained the key messages from the Russian point of view, Russia's enormous global impact of the world economy on the basis of the fact whether it is weak or strong. How Russia, when the country is strong as now under Putin, occupies the global stage and neutralize Europe. Source descriptions are detailed. Stratfor and Stratrisks articles but also Naomi Klein, Goldman Sachs, Sven-Eric Leidman etc. The interviews and conversations with American high military officers, Jack and Winston definitely gives the book a vivid impression. The Swedish military intelligence officer Bertil scrutinized thoroughly and it looks as if the author here wants to give the Swedish anti-Russian attitude and Monarchy a proper boot. This he succeeds superbly with. I absolutely recommend anyone who is interested in what the future will look like to read this book. The book I would classify as a Political Science and eminent geopolitical analysis of Russia and the West must not treat the country when it goes like this. After reading the whole book you can easily understand why the Massmedia in the West writes almost only negative about Putin.< Less
