We read the book and enjoyed it a lot. The pictures and historical scores were great. The stories were interesting and it was fun to look back as well as forward with the new coach and his wife included in the book. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is interested in small town Texas football and the way Dickinson came from 0-10 to 10-0 immediately and then on to a state championship. My favorite part was about Donnie Little who did not win the Heisman trophy like Andre Ware but instead became the first black QB at Texas and also went on to inspire many people otside of Dickinson, Texas. All in all I would tell someone to buy it because it's a really good detail of Dickinson history and pretty complete to say the least.

The book looks like a McAdams Jr High YrBook and is not a complete history of gator football as I thought. Hit on some high points in the program & talked about several players that were impact players but completely & arrogantly left out hundreds of gators players that did not get their names in the Galveston Daily News or even Dickinson News but gave their heart & soul and little blood on Friday Night (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Summer Nights in the in that tiny weight room after work. What about those GATORS. This Book is about a few Gators that do deserve the recognition but the authors missed that there are 10 other men that make that one player great either during the game Friday Nite or during practice all week. The book seems to focus glory yr (1977) State Championship & star Donnie Little. (giving litte recognition to Dickinson one & only Heisman Trophy Award Winner that played pro football & today is sports caster (and periodically... More > recognizes his Coach & his days at dickinson). The book talks about the 75th yr All Gator Team/Hall of Fame Inductees, those players - some good, some average & some great (depending on criteria & favoritism votes casted (dickinson is a small town))& there are many very good players not even mention in book or ballot. Along with All Gator Team the author has confusing/ridiculous FaceBook Comments (from who/who knows) voicing opinions & thoughts of other players. The book proceeds with the 80's-2013. Those Teams had really good seasons & some players that had a great career and were bless to play and the next level (book doesnt mention ) From Ford to Farris It take 11 men to play football, this book completely rejected those other 10 gators that gave 6+ yrs playing football for dickinson, the book disrespects/cheats those gators that work their butt off to make the team, to take the field in front of hometown crowd, there are others worked their butt off to win a starting position on the team CONTRIBUTING TO THE TEAM SUCCESS and have pride of a gator GFND, but this book slams their contribution of 75 years to gator football. I would have thought this book was for Gators past, present & future to show that we were part of something great-a member of Dickinson Fighting Gator Football Team. Na, it just a book about a few-written by the typical dickinson locals - pretty Jr High/Sr High...yep dickinson. As Coach Kelly would say .I cant say That one but heres another one " Run It Again"< Less

I found this book very interesting and it's amazing that Dickinson has had a football team for 75 years now. The pics included were really comprehensive and the topics were engaging - Big Al, the history of the helmets and the LONG history of the team. Anyone who's attended Dickinson HS will find interesting topics, details and pictures that touch their DHS history, whether you participated in football or not. If you didn't attend DHS, I think you'd still enjoy this time capsule of a small town Texas Football team. Get this book and enjoy reminiscing!
