"Re: Crawl" Thanks. It took awhile to do the work but it took a lot longer to figure out how to upload the pdf into lulu. I'm essentially an idiot when it comes to anything that requires an electrical outlet. Hopefully, this was all worth the effort. Thanks for your review. Best regards, Greg

""Crawl" by Greg Houston" I received this book today via FedEx, it's my birthday (I know, I know, thank you and yes I am 26 yet again) and I love it. I'm no artist but Houston's work makes me wish I were. Yes, some of it is erotic in content but there are moments of humor and his talent runs through the entire collection. I just have to add this: the book was a gift from my aunt in Western Kansas and I have to wonder if she knew what she had ordered here. It makes me laugh because I somehow doubt this is her cup of tea but perhaps there is a hidden side to her that I did not know. I'm honored to own it and it's very much a "keeper" for me! "Unique and compelling..." Photography is my usual venue, but I got Houston's book and literally could not put it down. This guy is sketching, drawing and writing without words scenes that most people, even artists, would not find in the deepest reaches of their minds. Houston's own words, "...where the weird, the ugly, the beautiful, and the extreme collide" was what actually caught my attention. Frankly I like weird. I find that there are a number of themes that weave through Houston's work: fetishes, religion, nature, mythology, old film, and old pornographic stills. There's nothing hardcore, it's more those old super-posed stiff-looking photos from the early 1900's. Clearly Houston has created a world where sexual proclivities had some level of personification and meshed with some of the other elements that I mentioned. All in all, Crawl is rather a place out of time, a bit like the atmosphere created in Joel Peter Witkin photography but not as baroque.... More > This is a unique artist, a unique book and it is worth every penny. By the way, Houston's website, is also well worth the time for browsing, very catchy and unusual but showing his gifts of art perfectly. Excellent work. My appreciation to the author. -Kirby A.
