It was one of those days I could almost imagine waking up one night from a long nightmare to the sight of a bright roof of myriad stars, each a nomad beacon and the bewitching sound of a bard playing by the warming light of the steppe fires. The music and songs with their eerie beauty and magic conjuring images of fabled beasts and heroes.. of firebirds and enchantresses, of quests to minareted palaces.. The presence of horses grazing by pavilions. My own steppe horse, silhouetted in restless majesty against the eternal flame of the stars. I reassure hounds running to check on me and answer to people who ask me in a language I somehow understand. Come by the fire brother. Haven’t you stories to tell?
