'The Eric Carr Story' is the first-ever book to tell the life story of Kiss drummer Eric Carr. Comprised of all-new interviews, the book also doubles as a study of 1980's era Kiss. You'll find insight into all of Kiss' albums that featured Carr (from producers Bob Ezrin, Michael James Jackson, and Ron Nevison), as well as those closest to him (sister Loretta Caravello, girlfriend Carrie Stevens, Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick), and music-related friends (Eddie Trunk, Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy, Anthrax's Charlie Benante). Also included is one of the last-ever interviews conducted with Kiss' original manager, Bill Aucoin, and for the first time ever, Kiss fans will be able to learn what the real story line to Kiss' controversial release '(Music From) The Elder' was all about (thanks to an explanation from Ezrin). Get ready to learn the true story about Eric's life, and a behind-the-scenes view of Kiss!

Greg Prato put together a fine book that delves into the life of loved and mourned Kiss drummer, Eric Carr. Contrary to what you may be thinking, this is no white-wash job about the band's second drummer (in the band longer than Peter, and responsible for updating their sound to compete with the emerging 80s metal), Prato gives you the ups and the downs of Carr's personality, but more than anything you feel the Fox's pain and suffering, not only at the hands of sickness and disease, but from his employers, who left him high and dry when he was on his deathbed. The most informative quotes are from Bruce Kulick who was probably closer to Eric than anyone during their time in the band together. Kudos to Prato!
Finally a book on a true legendary and somewhat under appreciated drummer, book is fantastic, i was glad it's a collection of excerpts from his inner circle rather than a crappy unofficial biography, i think every Kiss freak will dig it, i as a fan boy myself also anticipated the juicy stuff that you wouldn't normally hear about, however most importantly Kiss has always been about the music for me, i thought it was great that Mike Portnoy (ex dream theater drummer) really dug the Elder, the album that along with back in black (ac/dc, duh) shaped my taste in music by age ten, full marks to Greg Prato for putting this out, now go buy it!
I first heard of this book from Eddie Trunk on That Metal Show. I immediately Googled it, read several reviews, and could not wait for the possibility of this book to be released on Kindle. My review can not do this book justice. This book is excellent! While this book focuses on the triumphs and tragic end of Eric Carr, it also gives insight to an often passed over era in Kisstory...the 1980s. I enjoyed the stories about Kiss Exposed, Monsters of Rock and the stories provided especially by Bruce Kulick and Gary Corbett. Stories from other Kiss books/dvds are always from Paul and Genes perspective. It was really cool to read about Bruces' thoughts on Kiss matters. The final 3 chapters are sad, as to be expected.
