Book of Hénok

ByHadrian Mâr Élijah Bar Israël

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Hénok was the great-grandfather of Noah, and the Book of Hénok was presumably written by him, and dates to around 350 B.C. The major work consists of the Ge'ez text, however a number of older fragments in Aramaic were also found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. This translation includes the full Ge'ez text, along with an pronunciation guide, and English translation. Hénok is considered canon by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, and the Nazarani Church, but not by other Christian denominations; however Christianity as we now understand it owes a great deal to the Hénokian tradition. Many of the theological concepts which play a role in the modern Christian narrative actually come from Hénok and not from the canonical scriptures. Hénok is quoted a number of times in the canonical epistles, specifically in James. It remains an important work for all students of ancient Christian history and Nazarani studies.
