Not only profound but very readable, the arguments studded with startling anecdotes and facts. Colebatch's erudition is amazing. Through his logic and historical grasp, he has overthrown easily a dozen beliefs I have had for my whole adult life. For anyone interested in the history of science, the relationship between Christianity and scientific progress, and the threats now gathering against reason (e.g. Gaia, respect for other culture's superstitions) this book will provide meat for weeks or months of study. What a tragedy that a text like this is not set in university courses, where it could awaken young people's minds that 1000 myths have been presented to them as facts.
