IT IS TIME TO LISTEN TO THOSE WHO CARRY THE STORIES THAT SPEAK TO OUR SOULS: There is a deep longing for the universal, for meaning, and for spirit in these times of brilliant discoveries and breathtakingly rapid technological advances. Life has become longer, more complex, and - in many challenging new ways - more demanding. The gifts have been incredible, but the human spirit needs to catch up. In the spring of 2009, Hal & Sidra Stone met with a group of colleagues in a house overlooking the Pacific and, as they sat before the fire, they shared their stories in an intimate series of conversations. They talked about life and death; the challenges and rewards of aging; relationship and psycho-spiritual growth; illness and health; the gift of dreams; and the ever-present golden thread of meaning in the evolution of personal and global consciousness. Dianne Braden, a Jungian analyst, crafted a beautiful book based on these four mornings, masterfully re-creating this very special... More > moment in time.< Less

For those of us who have feasted on the wealth of books, audio CDs, and DVDs by Drs. Hal and Sidra Stone, "The Fireside Chats" is a rich, fulfilling, complexly flavored and highly nuanced dessert. In one slim volume that holds the transcriptions of four informal teaching sessions over four days in the spring of 2009, the Stones cover everything from aging and death to what keeps aliveness and romance in relationships to in depth discussion of Voice Dialogue facilitation... and everything in between. As a long time Voice Dialogue facilitator and teacher, I found myself underlining many passages delighted to have in print the kind of reflections that the Stones are known for in their teaching programs and that are quite different from the more formal presentations in their earlier books. Dianne Braden does a masterful job of not only editing but also adding in reflections that draw the reader into the staff house living room that is the setting for these four days of informal... More > "chats." Since Braden adds in her own questions and thoughts but not those of other participants (to respect their privacy), it is easy for readers to step into the scene and believe we are the ones present with Braden at this gathering. I personally am so grateful for this labor of love and will be drawing from it in my facilitation, teaching, and writing for years to come.< Less

This book is a delicious read. I felt like I was sitting around listening to Hal and Sidra share their wisdom. I felt their energy through the book. I also enjoyed the reflections by Dianne Braden. They were additive without being too much. I highly recommend this book.
