Image: Proceedings of the 2nd Rombouts Graduate Conference

The papers in this book deal with the idea of ‘image’ in a Chinese context, exploring this term in the broadest possible sense. They aim to not only focus on its literal and figurative possibilities, but also address various spatial and temporal dimensions. How do unusual and untold histories that are often left out of the debate reshape our ideas and broaden our view of Chinese history? How is image formed through language and literature and how does this image relate to identity? What is the interaction between sound and image? These are some of the larger questions the authors have tackled. What ultimately brings these young researchers together is their shared enthusiasm for applying imaginative and novel approaches to traditional disciplines practised in Sinology.
