Born in the nineteen twenties, Hannah Kirk began writing late in life. This volume of her collected poems and thoughts represents over twenty five years of work. Her thoughtful and deeply personal poems are rooted in the landscape of the north of England, and explore family, memory, loss, and the nature of writing itself. The poems in this collection are wise, moving, sometimes elegiac, closely-observed and often laced with gentle humour. The Aspen Tree is delightfully illustrated in colour throughout by Derbyshire artist Yuko Sekiguchi. Proceeds from this book support the National Deaf Children's Society.
