On Tuesday, April 20, 2010 an offshore oil drilling platform, Deepwater Horizon, exploded in the Gulf of Mexico near Louisiana. The rig, owned by Transocean Ltd, was under contract to BP. The Deepwater Horizon well was capped on July 15, 2010. Crude oil flowed from the seabed for 86 days. Eleven men died and fifteen more were injured as a cascade of gas explosions collapsed buildings and incinerated the rig floor crew. A Fatally Flawed Well explains why the disaster happened and who was responsible for the disaster.
