As far as anthologies go this one ranks pretty close to Joshi’s “Black Wings”. And while not every tale struck a chord with me, those that did I consider to be some of the finest weird fiction being published today. The absolute standouts: Thomas Strømsholt’s “Devouring Darkness Hovers”, Blake Wilson’s “The Door to Nowhere”, and Paul Mackintosh’s “The People of the Island”. All of these are five-star stories, and make this anthology a must to acquire.
