This is a great read. The 60s and early 70s weren't all "sex, drugs and rock'n'roll" the popular notion not withstanding. There were serious people who were part of it and not part of the casual excesses. This follows the lives of 4 such people in ways we don't often see or think about. People who know the true and enduring nature of "Love" for one another as well as humanity in general. Delightful tale.

This novel is an enjoyable stroll down memory lane for those us us old enough to have lived through the cultural revolution of the 1960's. It will likely be as enjoyable to younger audiences who can only guess at, from movies or hearsay, what it may have been like to live through those times. The narrative begins with the protagonist in an agonizing quandary; gradually his story is revealed in a series of flashbacks as it builds towards a compelling resolution. But it's the language that stands out throughout. Whether poetic, muscular, or full of vulgarity with the buzz words of the era, certain passages rise to the level of a tour de force, etching themselves indelibly in the mind of the reader.
