Many consider H.G. Wells the father of modern science fiction. Many of his novels are timeless classics, like "The Island of Dr. Moreau" and "The Invisible Man." But he's probably best known for stories like "The Time Machine" and "War of the Worlds," stories of such imagination that they have been made into movies several times, including the recent remake of "War of the Worlds" by Steven Spielberg, starring Tom Cruise. But Wells also wrote many short stories, particularly early in his career. Much of these early stories are precursors to some of his later novels, but are often hard to find or completely out of print today.
But now, one of Wells' classic short story collections, "The Door in the Wall and Other Stories" has been brought back in print by WheelMan Press in an attractive 6" x 9" trade paperback edition.
