Tom Nelson arrives in California and has many adventures while prospecting for gold. Aka: Tom Nelson Out West. In the Pacific Series. Tom Nelson has traveled to California seeking gold. His intention is to help support his family, who has, unfortunately fallen upon hard times. In addition, the mortgage is due on the farm. Tom works diligently in the gold mines and experiences some short-lived success. However, he is well short of the amount he needs. He and his friend, Mr. Ferguson try their luck elsewhere, heading for the city where they earn a considerable amount of money. Meanwhile, unless Tom’s family can pay the mortgage in full, they will be forced to auction off their farm. Tom must bring his fortune home in time to save the family home.
