I've enjoyed almost everything this guy's written, from blog posts and original handwritten haiku images online to his other book, Cool Menthol Woman. This book is a wonderful followup, adding a new dimension by fusing the meaning of his words with the character of his handwriting. There are about 60 color images, accompanied by text versions of the handwritten verses. It's unlike any book I've read before, combining elements of a poetry anthology with those of an art gallery. Haiku and poetry purists may not fully appreciate the contents of this book, but that may be because it is more than just another book of poetry. Anyone willing to approach this book with an open mind and an interest in wordsmithery has a better than even chance of being as impressed as I am by what Natural Lines has to offer.
