Ellis Island contained a great mural of immigrants and their contributions to America. The mural was painted in 1936 by Edward Laning and nearly destroyed when the Immigration Center was closed in the 1950s. Andrew Sabori has recreated the mural in its original brilliant colors. This book describes the loss and finding of the mural and contains full color plates of the reconstruction.
