I found this to be a fascinating book on two levels , both from an historical standpoint as well as a magical one . As this is the actual scan of the authors personal Book Of Shadows you get to see not only a rare look into a Lineaged covens practice including side notes , drawings , and inserts that explain the details in ways that you will not find elsewhere , but also it shows in detail the growth of the Boucca Wicca Tradition in the Southern Hemisphere and gives you a real feel for the history of the Craft there. There are any number of books available that discuss the history of the Craft , both Traditional and Revival , in Britain and the States but it's rare to find a book that helps give you a glimpse of the early Craft movement in New Zealand. So I would highly recommend this book to anyone , those experienced in their Craft as well as those just starting out , as there is something of real substance there for everyone that will enrich your practices regardless of Tradition... This is a scan of an old Book of Shadows from the early 1990's with pieces from an even earlier B.O.S notebook of mine. As expected: unlike commercial B.O.S prints, the scan has all the spelling mistakes, sentence mix-ups and things from handwriting a 200 page book. Associations are from the northern hemisphere etc various early Alexandrian pentagrams etc and things which are not used in today's Boucca Wicca tradition. These will be corrected for the revised print version. Also in some places it is difficult to tell from the grey-scale what is said aloud, what is performed and comments about a particular teaching or ceremonial aspect I received. Nevertheless it is a scan of a original and real B.O.S handwritten with all its glory and mistakes when I was much younger in the Craft. The scan should provide a great deal of revelation and inspiration within it. Many of the instructional comments are particular to our tradition and not easily found else where. Likewise the B.O.S has various... More > secrets that originated from Alex Sanders to Soror Moonhee or Simon Goodman. These aspects of the Alexandrian tradition are also not easily found elsewhere or at all elsewhere. Historical researchers should also find this scan of interest and provide particular insight to the development of the Wicca tradition. Overall the B.O.S scan has field of little gems scattered throughout its pages. Dedicated Wicca crafters will find many treasures of interest within, to satisfy their appetites. Get your highlighter ready and work through the scan with the attention of an investigator. You will be well rewarded. Finally hand copy what ever you like into your own Book of Shadows. Blessed Be.< Less

This big book is a large-format compendium of scans -- of a complete, hand-written Book of Shadows -- from a variant of the Alexandrian Craft called "Boucca Wicca". This is the best format for publishing a Book of Shadows, and it is fortunate that this information has been made available for those who need it. The scans are surprising clear, and the handwriting is completely legible. Sometimes the author provides a printed transcript of a word or two, over the scan, but even in those cases the scan is sufficiently legible and the transcript is unnecessary. Chapter titles at the top of the page, and a table of contents with page numbers (also handwritten and scanned), make it easy to navigate through this large book. Unlike pure Gardnerian Wicca and Conservative Evangelicalism, Boucca Wicca isn't restricted to heterosexuals only. This is a needed advance over the traditional Craft. Human sexuality is understood immensely better today, than when the Gardnerian Book of Shadows... More > was created. While Boucca Wicca requires the traditional opposite-polarity, the guidelines have been modernized to accommodate both heterosexuals and non-heterosexuals. A masculine-natured man or woman, can choose to work with a feminine-natured person of the same gender. Hermaphrodites can work with anyone. The book's foreword explains that Boucca Wicca is "a mixture of Sussex Craft and Alexandrian Witchcraft", and that some of the contents of this Book of Shadows are rare and "unlikely to be found much elsewhere". Also, "Some of the materials in this BOS are either dissimilar to, or not found within the usual published versions of the various Alexandrian Book of Shadows". It explains that "Boucca" comes from a word meaning "Earth Spirit". For those whose mystic interests extend further than Alexandrian Wicca, the author's foreword explains that Boucca Wicca is practiced by an Outer Order of the Et Custosi Tutelae, and that "From this coven work, candidates showing interest {in) the Hermetic Mysteries are invited to formally continue within the Et Custosi Tutelae." Et Custosi Tutelae, also known as The Guardians, is an order of ceremonial magicians who use the magical language of the Qabalah.< Less

The book begins with a detailed history of how Boucca Wicca came to New Zealand and its historical ties to Alexandrian Witchcraft. This alone makes this work of impertinence to anyone interested in the History of modern witchcraft and especial the traditional of Alexandrian Witchcraft. This is only one of many important elements of this book. Unlike many other Book of Shadows published today, this work is a true Book of Shadows being handwritten by the author. Because it is handwritten, in my option it carries with it a connection to the author and the Boucca Wicca tradition. I feel this book would be of great help to anyone interested in Wicca and Witchcraft. Anyone wanting to make their own Book of Shadows would find this book an aid in doing so.
