5 Stars! “This novella was a whirlwind romance that started with definite attraction from both characters but animosity at the same time. Once a rich boyfriend shows up in town, all hell breaks loose. April has quite a few “Aha!” moments when a friend of her father's, Lindy, discloses a lot of secrets to her that she never realized. The development of the characters came naturally with so many twists and turns. I loved this romantic, humorous novella. Ms. Wiesner makes it very enjoyable for the reader. The first part of the novella tore my heart out. I felt so many mixed emotions. This was a very quick read that will leave you smiling. I give Taming April 5 Emotionally Charged, Hot Cowboy, Fun Filled Stars!” ~A Bookish Escape 4 Stars! “Karen Wiesner brings to life the poverty-stricken upbringing April experienced after her mother died and her father all but stopped living himself. Painting a wonderful picture of April scrubbing floors, Wiesner does a fantastic job of illustrating this... More > with colorful descriptions. The tension and embarrassment April still feels at the hands of high school tormentor Shawn Jacobs is palpable from the moment these two get within a few feet of one another. She is cold and he is cruel but they want each other so much that it drives them crazy, because neither of them wants to want the other. Rather than a tale of unrequited love, Taming April is a tale of reluctant love of two people from similar backgrounds who can’t stop envying the other long enough to realize they have more in common than they realize. This short story flies by, making you yearn for a longer build-up to the obvious tension between April and Shawn. Despite their flaws and pride, these are characters you care about and I would love to see this story turned into a full-length novel.” ~Readers' Favorite 4 Stars! “April is a wonderful role model. She went from rags to designer outfits. She worked hard as a teen and even more so as a young lady alone in the big city. She earned every cent. How could anyone not be impressed? Even a bit envious? There are several lessons in this terrific tale, but the main one I heard was to never judge someone until you have walked a mile in her high heeled shoes.” ~Huntress Reviews< Less
