The rage that he carried in his heart from this misfortune finds its way back to him at the end, when his wife reveals to him a surprise that would curse him forever.
About Hmong Folktales:
Folktales are told orally from memory and have reoccurring or common themes. These include love, marriage, spirits, tragedies, repetition and humanizing animals. The setting in these stories mimics everyday life in Laos. There are many forms used to tell these stories, such as dialogue, poetry and singing. One story can include more than one of these forms. Hmong folktales are told from one generation to the next. Aside from bedtime entertainment, each folktale has a moral and lesson.
