Bord de Mer is the first collection of poetry by musician, writer, and visual artist Hubie Vine. Many of the poems in this volume are collected song lyrics from Vine's musical compositions, including his recent albums: "Misty Tides," "Poetrix," and "Elevator Queen." These texts draw on memory and personal introspection, as well as the writer's impressions and reactions to the chaotic political and social climate that surrounds us today. Reminiscent of Rumi, Vine expresses his philosophies and emotions through a love of nature and its vibrant elements, a sensibility which permeates throughout the collection. The book is illustrated with Vine's own paintings, which, wrapped in Chagall-like colors, depict warm kaleidoscopic visions of the invisible, while incorporating found objects borrowed from the artist's surroundings. Born in Tunisia, Vine spent many years working as a musician in Europe before moving to Los Angeles, where he now lives.
