Just magic, I thoroughly enjoyed the short stories; the author brought the characters and Loch Ness to vivid life; I felt as if I was out on the Loch that night with Dan, Eoin and Alex. I also found the snippets of history and legends fascinating. Although cooking is not my strong point, I have successfully made the Macaroon bars, they tasted just like I remembered. Thank you.

Living just along the road from the village of Dores, the previous home of the author, I was drawn to this book of tales and was so pleased to find, not only a collection of intriguing stories that kept me absorbed, but also that I recognised the locations in which they were set. Never again will I pass the old boat house without thinking of poor Duncan ! Those who have visited Loch Ness will equally find themselves picturing the tales around the loch as they unfold. I am not usually a recipe book fan but with these recipes interspersed between the many tales and tall stories, it is more than tempting to try them out. I have long thought to make Clootie Dumplings – now I have – and very tasty they are too !! With interesting snippets from further afield, this book is a really good yarn from start to finish.
