Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The need to increase both the quality and quantity of social housing has become a universal goal for the world’s major capital cities. These city visions not only reflect dissatisfaction in current living situations, but also an urge to mitigate the housing problems created by contemporary architecture. Piecemeal regulations have led to eclectic solutions. If the society has the incentive to invest in the right of residence for minorities and disadvantaged groups, and to increase the minimum living space requirement standard, then the city will have a chance to improve the overall living quality under a newly reestablished guideline and regime. My vision is to enable stakeholders to realize living amongst people diverse mindsets and backgrounds enhances both societal wellbeing and economic development. Through a series of financial, historical, and demographic analyses, this design thesis takes an on-going project in Taipei City as an example to demonstrate new design possibilities in social housing.
