The Long Angry Search for Peace, an epic narrative poem, is a searing account of the author's six years of war at sea during World War Two. Iain Crawford went to sea as a Merchant Navy cadet at the age of 17 in 1939. He then became a Royal Navy officer and served throughout the duration of the Second World War, mainly in the Mediterranean, where he took part in the invasions of Sicily, Italy, Southern France and Yugoslavia, entering Venice on the final day of the War in Europe, VE Day May 8 1945. In 2006, the author returned to Augusta and Catania in Sicily to revisit the ports where he was stationed during the Sicilian invasion. The Long Angry Search for Peace is the result.
